Spiritual Living
Chapter 7
Activating Infinity Within You
How important is remembering that infinity is within you?
In one of the most widely-read spiritual text in the world (remember the population of India?), the Bhagavad-Gita (Song of God), tells the story
of the greatest archer of those ancient times re-connecting to infinity. It happens while talking to Lord Krishna, said to be Infinity speaking. In the end, Arjuna says, “Oh yes, I remember. Thank You.”
Infinity is within you. Only you forgot. To get it back, you just need to re- member. You also need to let go of all the distractions, to stop seeing with the eyes, stop hearing with the ears, and so on. Simply see from Truth.
Remember, in many ancient stories, the Seers were blind, yet they were the ones who saw the Truth. That means, they remembered infinity.
Remember, you are infinity.
The experience of infinity along with experience of the world is spiritual- ity.
Lord Christ said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is within you.” That’s the cool thing: you don’t have to go anywhere.
Within you is infinity. The experience of it is spirituality. The experience is also referred to as “wholeness.” “Wholeness” means infinity together with its parts. Remember, the infinity within you is the source of creation. This wholeness of the source of God’s Will.
It is from here God creates creation. But you’ve forgotten.
It’s as if you’re a fish in the water and you’re thirsty. All you need to do is open your mouth and drink.
You are completely surrounded by infinity. Every cell of your body is permeated by infinity.
All you’ve got to do is find a way to connect with that. Once you connect to it, it grows automatically in your life.
Sometimes it’s called “awakening.” Awakening just means enlivening in- finity in your life. Once you do that, you’ll automatically be living spiritu- ally. Your life will be an expression of Spiritual Living, that spiritual life that you would like to have regardless of the crazy, screwy, nutso, world we live in.
If God Creates Creation
How can infinity be inside me?
The Old Testament says the creator said, “Let there be light.” What he actually commands, desires, are the principles of light and dark, water, trees, people, etc.. [Remember, those translating have not had the experience of infinity, they do their best to translate, but miss essential points.]
Desiring the principles is like desiring the seed; once you have the seed, the plant grows by itself. God gets to watch.
What’s interesting, is that the principles outside of us are also inside us.
We think we are separate from Nature. In fact, we are expressions of the exact same principles of Natural Law.
For instance, one of the first things created is space/time. Why? Because if you’re going to create creation, you need a place to put it. Infinity is unexpressed. That means it has the possibility of infinite time / infinite space, but it has not made or expressed it yet. Like you asking for a raise. The possibility exists within you, but maybe you have not said it—expressed it— yet.
Now, there are all sorts of passionate arguments about which came first, the chicken or the egg, the seed or the tree, monkeys or people. The truth is, unless you were there, you’ll never know. (Of course, you could go there, but again, that’s a different story.)
The important, practical point, is that the process of creation exists even now. Every moment creation is created anew.
That’s what allows miracles. That’s what allows dramatic changes in the world. That’s what allows you to change the future.
What happens is you have a thought. Once you’ve had that thought, where does it go? It goes to infinity! It goes to infinity because after you have
the thought, it keeps expanding like ripples on a pond when you throw in a pebble. The thought ripples just keep expanding, expanding, expanding, until they expand beyond the edge of the universe. And what’s beyond the edge of the universe?
Infinity.
Or, after you have the thought, it just collapses into nothingness, just keeps getting smaller and smaller as it fades away, until eventually nothing is left. It gets so small it falls into infinity. Either way, your thought goes into infinity.
And that has an effect. What goes in must come out. So the concrete ex- pression of your thought comes out, like a ball bouncing off a wall.
So with every thought we have, some impulse goes into infinity, and some impulse comes out.
Remember the saying, “Man is born/created in the image of God?” God creates by intending, then going into infinity. It’s God’s connection to in- finity that gives God’s commands the power to become created in physical form. People do the same, only with a much smaller effect.
God creates the universe. You may just create a job, or an accident, or something pleasant to munch on.
God’s connection with infinity is direct and infinite. Up until now, you may not have even known there was a connection—or that there even was an infinite. If you did know, and did intend to connect, your connection may not be long-lasting; in fact, it’s probably very brief, if at all.
It certainly isn’t the connection God has. So your powers of creating have to be much less than God’s.
Also, God has a different nervous system than you. He/She is not human, He/She is God. You are a human being. Which is amazing and well done.
But not as good as God.
It appears that creation —and things being created— are taking place outside of us. Unified field physics shows a sequence of emerging through various energies/forces until physical form is created.
This mirrors what happens in you. While physics may talk about strong force, weak force, electromagnetism, inside you we talk about as ego, in- tellect (feelings as part of that), mind, senses, and so on— the sequence of infinity from more abstract, unbounded levels to more and more expressed levels. Until it becomes your concrete body.
You body is not made of concrete; it’s made of cells and proteins and nucleic acids. But it becomes dense enough so that you and everyone else appreciates that you have a form.
Which may or may not be the form you want. Changing that form is not in the scope of this work, however.
Sorry.
So the sequence for people is: consciousness/awareness —> ego —>intellect —> mind —> senses —> body —> environment —> world —> universe.
That’s the sequence from the inside out.
Interestingly, feelings is part of the intellect. Feelings go into our heart, so love is there as part of the intellect.
Intellect is what decides. Mind gathers information, passes it to the intel- lect, and the intellect decides. Yes, ask her out. No, don’t go out with him.
Ego feels it is the experiencer, the “I” who is reading this.
But this is an illusion. (In Sanskrit, it’s called maya: “that which is not.” Pronounced mI-ya, it means illusion.
What is the illusion? That we are separate: from what is outside us/the body and within us, consciousness, infinity.
The illusion of maya is that everything exists! Maya says that all the world— inside and out— is just an illusion! It’s actually infinity, playing within itself.
Since there is only one infinity, then nothing is really going on! Yet...
We seem to have a life, a very interesting life, with family and friends, with houses, cars, television, work, play, oceans, astronauts, enemies, good, bad, just, unjust, heaven and hell.
What’s all that about?
It’s an illusion.
Not that it’s not real, because it is. You are experiencing your life, your husband/wife/family/friends/job/work/play/likes/dislikes, your ups and downs.
All that is real.
Or is it?
Because, let’s face it, none of it is real when you’re asleep.
